With this competition inspired by “Reinventing Paris”, the city of Angers invited to design innovative urban projects on 6 strategic sites. 25 teams associated with talented architects like Manuelle Gautrand, Su Fujimoto, Franklin Azzi or Edouard François have proposed ambitious projects sometimes unexpected. Angers city launched a contest for innovative projects called «Imagine Angers». Teams from all over the world were invited to create projects on 6 strategic areas. Six winners, who proposed the most ambitious and unexpected projects, were solemnly announced during the international exhibition of MIPIM in Cannes in March 2018.

Angers is a city in western France, about 300 km southwest of Paris. It is chef-lieu of the Maine-et-Loire department. Angers is the third most populous commune in northwestern France after Nantes and Rennes and the 17th in France. Angers is a city that is growing, a city on the move. 2017 marked the launch of several major projects for Angers. The projects are essential to the economic development of the territory, to its and its attractiveness, which will make it possible to further improve quality life of the Angevins.

At the forefront of these structuring projects is “Angers Heart of Maine” (“Angers Coeur de Maine”). Thought-provoking deep and global on the city, this project will allow the Angevins to renew with their River thanks to the vegetated cover of the way of the banks, its esplanade on the edge of Maine, new living spaces and the construction of a bridge over the Maine dedicated to the future line B of the tramway and to soft mobility.
