As an architectural landmark, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Laâyoune and its campus are the core of the Foum El Oued technopole, an innovative area demanded by the King of Morocco to support the growth of this South region. The first stone of this strategic operation was laid by His Majesty Mohammed VI himself on last February.

The will to promote a sustainable quality of life, an environmental excellency regarding the site and its constructions, a very high architectural quality has guided all the reflexions of this amazing project. The objective is to contribute to the economic and social boom of the region, by the creation of a visionary city that will become a real platform for learning and experimenting in terms of innovation and sustainable uses.

To answer to this ambitious project and win the contest, the architecture firm Bechu & Associés in association with Fouad Bennouna a Moroccan architect, has imagined a building inspired from the nature. Then, to integrate the best technologies that would guarantee its future exemplarity, the agency has built a team of French companies with complementary knowledge to develop outstanding sustainable projects and optimize circular economies: DVVD as engineers for the structure, Ennesys to organize the recycling of dust water and organic waste into reusable water and high-value bio fertilizer, EMBIX for the development of a Smart Grids (multi fluid optimization) and Smart City services.
