New Camp Nou – a Dream Open to the World

The stadium “Camp Nou”, translated from Catalan as “New field”, which is the home stadium of ‘Futbol Club Barcelona’, or Barça, as it is often called, expect a large-scale reconstruction. Plans for the restructuring of the stadium were unveiled in 2007, the year of its 50th anniversary, but the global financial crisis of 2008-2009 did not allow them to be done. But now they have become quite real - the reconstruction of “Camp Nou” is carried out on the project Nikken Sekkei + Pascual-Ausiu Arquitectes.

The Camp Nou renovation is one of the pillars of Espai Barça, which includes the transformation of all of FC Barcelona´s facilities in the neighborhood of Les Corts in Barcelona as well as the construction of the New Mini Estadi in the Joan Gamper Sports City. Thus, the area of Espai Barça will occupy territory with a total area of 35 hectares. Espai Barça is a dream for all Barcelona fans which will become reality during the 2021-2022 seasons.

In the district of Les Corts on the area of 19.4 hectares will house a range of sports facilities. Central to this, of course, belongs to the new state-of-the-art Camp Nou, which will be fully converted on the basis of the existing design and the number of seats will increase for approximately 105,000. It is planned gradual reconstruction, i.e. construction work will not be an obstacle for continuing to play matches.
