WAF 2019. Fashion for Kindness

The World Architecture Festival (WAF) is held annually since 2008. In 2019, it was held for the second time in Amsterdam, and in 2020 it will move to Lisbon. Traditionally WAF is held continuously for three days in October, November or December. Architects, designers, landscape architects, potential clients from many countries, specialists in building materials, equipment, interior items, computer architectural programs, and representatives of the media participate in its rich program. Our correspondent also visited the festival, whose report we offer to our readers.

As in other years, the World Architecture Festival started the day before the official opening with an unofficial welcome evening or “reception”. At it, participants could get to know each other, drink, have a bite and print name badges so as not to stand in line for them the next day. Despite the conditions created for communication, people were in no hurry to approach each other and preferred to stand alone or talk with those with whom they came. 

Seeing the general embarrassment was unexpected, given that the next day, many participants of the welcoming evening in their presentations insisted on a need to create spaces / places for meetings between people in cities and buildings, emphasized the importance of communication.
