Zaryadye: Outward Glance

The Zaryadye Park that was opened on 9th of September 2017 during the celebration of 870th Moscow’s anniversary has already become a noticeable event, regardless of its rates, the practice shows that in most cases they are positive. Just in one month, the park was visited by more than a million people, and there are all reasons to suggest that the originally planned amount of annual visitors will be exceeded. In this case, there will be a need for creating a strategy for the public spaces’ development in the center of the city in order to optimize the distribution of such an amount of visitors.

For the last 5-6 years, Moscow has changed incredibly: there were a lot of new pedestrian streets created in the city center, as well as new public gardens, boulevards, and squares. The city has become a modern, comfortable, and worth to be called “European”, where Zaryadye Park, as the most significant and complex project, it appears to be a new highlight of public place together with the Gorky Park and “Muzeon”.

It would be too hollow to consider Zaryadye just as a politically-oriented project, PR-company, or modern trend. The park is a really meaningful gift for the citizens and the city visitors. It is a world level landmark, and not every city can be proud of having a place like this. The construction of public park like this in the Kremlin’s preserved area defines a new level of development not only for Moscow itself, but it opens also new horizons for the creation of modern public spaces in other Russian cities and CIS countries.

Zaryadye Park is an example of multifunctional complex and modern space that corresponds both to the economic efficiency and the demand for such public places. During the concept phase of the project, it has been positioned as Moscow’s “green heart”, and now it would be fair to say that it is worth this definition.
