Last October, Piscina & Wellness Barcelona 2015 ended with the celebration of The Awards 2015, organized by the ITeC - “Instituto de Tecnología de la Construcción de Cataluña”. In this edition, awards to best projects have been to residential swimming pool, wellness center, public swimming pool, restoration of a swimming pool, innovative product and sustainable product.

With their project of Municipal indoor swimming pool in Constantina (Sevilla), Fernando Suarez Corchete, Lorenzo Muro Álvarez and Miguel Ángel Gómez Casero have won the first prize on the public swimming pool category. According to verdict of the jury “they resolve with solvency a project very influenced by the low budget, and they pose an austere building that positively improves the environment. The architectural design emphasizes solar protection and privacy, supplemented by the proper use of materials”.

The program of swimming pool, changing rooms and gym is set in a single plant so as to not create architectural barriers, in a building in a “C” shape that wraps around a public space landscaped and optimizes solar orientation. Attached to the thermal insulation of extra and the use of renewable energy sources, has allowed to certify the building as a class A energy efficiency.

As the architects say: “Building tries to fit in the landscaped area with small curves on his continuous facade, made of wood-cement boards. The main volume of the building shows on the Andalucia Avenue, trying to be a reference at the village entrance. The roof has a great impact on the landscape due to the topography of the place, so it has been carefully designed”
