Perfect Space for Creative Industry
Nikken Sekkei is a Tokyo based group of architects, designers, planners and thinkers operating within the fields of architecture, research development and engineering. The office is currently involved in a large number of projects throughout Europe, Asia, India and the Middle East. The company’s projects in the region encouraged it to set up a base in Dubai in the form of an interdisciplinary studio space. One that allows for the continuation of design dialogue across their various offices and creative teams; Nikken Housing, Nikken Space Design, Nikken Research Institute and group firms. Nikken Sekkei Dubai Director Fadi Jabri communicated the new plans for the office and its future aspirations through this article.
The architecture studio in Dubai emerges out of an intricate observation of how contemporary creative industries constantly evolve. This is a result of a number of values such as multicultural exchange, global influences and communication tools that when combined require new ways of architectural and urban organization.
Architecture Studio
The space within the studio is a reflection of that methodology. An open environment of thought, creative production, analysis and cross collaboration. The sub spaces provided allow for each segment of the design process to flourish. Where the fluidity in arranging the adjacent programs and circulation is intended to drive the creative teams and provide various studio configurations.
The interior space is layered with minimal distractions. The white space and palette emphasizes the spacious interior where the selection of Vitra design furniture and infographics adds an additional unconventional element.
