CARRIER + LEED: the Components of Success

Given ratings are best applied when the primary goal is to achieve certification for design related activities, whether the building is new or existing. We would like to talk of how the applied products and services of CARRIER can essentially contribute to get certified under the LEED international system whether for the newly constructed or existing buildings. First of all, it concerns more points in the category “Energy and Atmosphere” and “Quality of Indoor environment.” In the second part we will look at some examples of systems based on the CARRIER equipment, which help to achieve success.

GREEN BUILDING OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE

Open control system Carrier i-Vu ® Green building operations and maintenance are addressed in one rating system, LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance. This rating system can be applied to buildings that were previously certified under one of the other LEED rating systems or have never been certified. Greater than 50% of the space in these buildings must be occupied and the focus is on operational performance, not design.

The Building Automation System (BAS) is an important component which must be commissioned and can provide the systems control and logging required to execute the commissioning plan. Carrier’s i-Vu® open control system has features which can enhance this process.

Sustainable development principles in the selection and organization of the territory:
- Using controllers Carrier i-Vu ® to control external lighting installations, taking into account the actual length of the solar day, the timetable of the property, the motion sensors (eg, on / off lighting in areas of open parking lots).
- Office interior lighting buildings by Carrier i-Vu ®, maximum use of natural light.
