Fantastic world of Pandora
>
If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring the world of Pandora in James Cameron‘s film Avatar, that dream could soon come true – Disney World has announced plans to build an attraction Avatar Land based on the alien planet!. It will be a themed area at Disney‘s Animal Kingdom in Florida.
Avatar Land will be designed by Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) with Avatar producers James Cameron and Jon Landau. Disney just unveiled the first images of the upcoming Avatar Land, which features floating islands, massive trees, and bioluminescent animals and plants. The newly released concept images show floating mountains and navigating boats through a plant-lit swamp, along with Pandora’s massive Tree of Life that will turn bioluminescent at nighttime.
A similar tree has already been created by Disney as the centerpiece of its Animal Kingdom in Orlando. Lush vegetation and animal life will be recreated to offer a realistic portrayal of Pandora’s environment, which looks similar to Earth during the day but transforms into a strange bioluminescent world at night, dominated by various shades of blue, purple and green. The park will break ground in Florida sometime after 2014, and it’s slated to open after 2016 and the release of the film’s three sequels.
