HWAT – Energy Efficient Water Heating System

The energy efficiency is the main strategy of the world building industry and related with requirements of state bodies to reduce energy consumption both in residential and business buildings. At present a ratification of the Kyoto protocol and active position of Moscow “Centre of effective energy usage” and nonprofit partnership «Assistance to sustainable development of the architecture and construction – Green Building Council» serve as the motive power for creating energy efficient buildings in Russia.

TECHNOLOGIES RAYCHEM

The company Tyco Thermal Controls – world leading supplier of specialized heating systems – developed an ideal solution permitting to decrease energy consumption in buildings and providing hot water in tap at any moment. An intelligent system for keeping up hot water temperature – HWAT from the world-famous company Raychem – helps to save energy, time and money. Its application permits to appreciate and increase an efficiency of water heating systems, particularly, out-of-date and inefficient systems supplying hot water through centralized boiler houses.

Solutions on the base of HWAT apply only one pipe against long and complex pipeline reds of traditional return systems. Not only costs on pipeline assembly and maintenance are considerable decreased, but a space required for the tubing is reduced too and that makes the system is optimal both for general overhaul and erection of new buildings.

Like other products by Raychem, the electric system HWAT is built on the base of self-regulating heating cables providing the maintenance of required water temperature in tap due to the compensation of heat losses in the delivery line. The cable consists of two conductors separated by a conducting core made from a special polymer. The cable produces heat when the current goes between conductors through the core and reacts on temperature changes. When an environmental temperature reduces, a quantity of conducting lines in the core of the cable increases and more heat is produced. On the contrary, when the temperature increases, the quantity of conducting lines in the core decreases and the cable producesless heat.
