«Krasnoyarsk- City»: Advanced Technologies and Siberian Design
Cooperation between Japan and Russia in the field of urban planning is actively developing. The company Nikken Sekkei closely cooperates with Russian developers and realizes projects of new generation cities in different regions of the country. The challenge is not simply to introduce Japanese technologies in Russia, but take into account all factors including local cultural and historical traditions and ecological state of locality. By relying on the Smart City concept, it is possible to fruitfully work in all directions including waste recycling, creation of «low carbon dioxide society» infrastructure, comfortable environment and improving quality of life. One of these innovative projects is realized in Krasnoyarsk where is launched the construction of the “Krasnoyarsk- City” district. On a bank of the Yenisei River which lavishly supplies Krasnoyarsk with water is a low plateau. In the most northern part of this parcel the company “Monolitholding” erects a residential complex of new generation. In the course of developing the concept, architects tried to create a city rich in eventful cultural life, warm atmosphere and permanent children jolly. This is a city where people will live, grow children, meet with friends and having for it all the necessary infrastructure.

The concept of “Krasnoyarsk-City” is based on three attractive characteristics of future city. First, there will be constructed three clusters united around a single urban axis. Secondly, the new district is created on the principle: “City for the people.”
Arrangement of edifices will provide protection from strong winds. Open galleries and glazed pavilions will create comfortable conditions for pedestrians walking around the complex territory; to enter inside will be possible only through secure entrances. Thirdly, a peculiarity of the district will become a special Siberian design; decorative and colour solutions developed in accordance with local traditions.
Human-scale low-rise development and super-courtyards as extensive public spaces of superior comfort will make a feeling of highend residential complex. Residential houses of several types and designs are combined in every residential cluster and they will promote to better addressing of market needs and economic success of the project, which also allows reducing management risks and provides economic success of the project. Situated in the north of Krasnoyarsk, near to the airport, the “Krasnoyarsk-City” becomes a north gate of the city, on the one hand, and a new urban core for further development of bordering districts, on the other.
