Solutions in Tune with Our Inward Habit
Nowadays we are witnessing the most “largescale construction” for the last time in modern Russia. Its inception was the construction of facilities indispensable to the Sochi Olympics 2014, and the culmination is likely to become the great preparation for the World Cup 2018, in which entertainment will be involved 10 Russian cities. According to the KPMG data, by the beginning of the championship only the number of Russian hotels managed by international hotel operators is expected to increase more than doubled – from 89 to 215. In these regions will grow also the number of new offices of classes A and D, shopping and cultural centers. But the plans are not always being put into practice, and the promotion of international franchises in the Russian provinces, as a rule, is realized much more slowly.
Optimistic attitude of foreign investors increasingly meets cautious assessment of local managers – they are the people who have to fight for getting construction permits, connecting the objects to communications, compliance with the requirements of building regulations, including the permissible noise level in the rooms.
The terms of franchise agreements are quite strict, and if the required performance of soundproofing will not be achieved, it may delay or even make it impossible to obtain the right to operate the hotel under the given or any other global brand in the territories of different countries. And this would entail rework of internal space, as well as an increase in the project budget and schedule.
Russian designers are commonly faced with the problem of selection of insulation materials for internal walling. They point out that if the soundproofing is counted relying only on the existing Code of Practice (SP 51.13330.2011) and the customer’s specifications, at the full-scale trials on the completed facility it is possible to get characteristics below the required performance and the difference is rather substantial – about 7–10 dB.
