Of f ice building named ”Treurenberg”, which in Dutch means “Mountain of Tears”, is located on the eponymous street in Brussels. Treurenberg is the first Net-Zero energy office building to be built in Brussels, designed and built by ASSAR, VK Engineering, Democo and AXA IM - Real Assets.
Its reconstruction required the most advanced techniques to achieve a Net-Zero energy building certified Excellent by BREEAM and to allow the public to see an unknown part of Brussels’ first city walls from the 13th century. It is built around an atrium with nine levels, and offers 10,500 sqm of office space. The top three levels open onto one of the largest usable rooftop terraces for an office building in Brussels.
To compensate for this energy consumption, solar panels are placed on its three facades and on the roof and their annual production will completely offset its annual consumption. Ideally located in the heart of Brussels, the Treurenberg boasts a central location with every need catered for. The building is very close to the retail hub that gives the district its dynamic vibe, as well as Brussels’ typical alleys and traditional stores. Within walking distance of green spaces and cultural areas, the Treurenberg offers its occupants a very high quality of life and a pleasant working environment.
