Reinventing Paris

For many, Paris is almost synonymous of architectural magnificence. But among its abundant historical splendor, green spaces are few and far between. A new project worth billions of euros aims to change that. On November 3, 2014, at the Pavillon of the Arsenal (4th), Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, launched one of the most important urban design projects of the backtracking and one of the most ambitious international competition for architecture and innovation: Reinvent Paris.

The Call for Urban Projects and Innovative (SUPPORT) focuses on 23 sites spread on the territory as a whole, the profiles are very different. The goal is to make the best of the spirit of innovation – “Do better” and otherwise “ – to reinvent, transform them and give them a second life. Tomorrow, the cities do not think in the same way, and do not build the same any more. Reinventing Paris place our city at the forefront, and in fact a pioneer.

Until the end of January 2015, the City of Paris has collected expressions of interest. They have been extremely numerous since the 815 entries from around the world – have been received. The selected candidates were then given access to all relevant data on the sites on which they wished to work, in order to be able to develop their projects. The initial offerings were delivered in the spring of 2015.

In the summer, the selection panel decided to retain 75 projects. The finalists were then able to rework their projects, and offers final have been released in the winter of 2015. A jury composed of elected representatives of the majority and the opposition, and international experts from all walks of life – urban planning, innovation – meeting was held in January 2016 to review projects and select a winner for each site. February 3, 2016, at the Pavillon of the Arsenal, Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, unveils the winners.
