Alive Buildings

Modern cities have beaucoup problems: overpopulation, the style mismatch buildings, traffic jams ... Of course, one of the most urgent issues - is unfavorable ecological situation, especially in metropolitan areas. Today architects offer modern solutions, developing innovative projects at the junction of architecture and ecology.

ECOLOGICAL CONVERSION

Scientific and Production Complex “Elara” in Cheboksary - one of the leading high-tech enterprises, producing flight and navigation systems, onboard computer technology for military and civil aviation. But its Plants and administrative buildings no longer meet modern requirements. Therefore a key objective was a renovation of the future techno polis. To achieve this goal was applied the entire arsenal of modern eco-architecture and advanced energy technologies.

First of all, it was decided to maximize use of the factory roofs areas by placing on them the greenhouses, rest areas, ramps and bridges. Abroad, green roofs are not uncommon, and they are used quite efficiently. According the project is proposed to heat the greenhouses by warm that is a by-product of the enterprise activities. This allows harvesting crops throughout the year. Soil condition will be strictly controlled, and vegetables grown here supposed to be organic.

Also are put forward other interesting ideas, such as the use of natural ventilation in the “double skin facades.” The architects’ trump card became hanging gardens leading down from the roofs. Together with landscaped roofs they will create an effect of green “covers” thrown over the old factory buildings. Thereby will be expanded the space for social communication, which will be moved to a new, elevated level, where people could not only relax, but also organize a business meeting. The first stage of reconstruction provides for the establishment of the business center consisting of two buildings stitch together by brightly alight atrium space. It will accommodate the bank, offices and a hotel with a panoramic restaurant on the top level.
