Google has found another way to realize its futuristic Mountain View headquarter’s expansion. As the San Jose Mercury News reports, the search engine giant revealed plans to utilize a vacant site just east of their existing Googleplex that was approved by the city almost a decade ago to host nearly 600,000 square-feet of office and commercial space.
Saudi Arabia’s capital will soon be home to yet another striking and sculptural architecture landmark: the Olaya Metro Station. Designed by Gerber Architekten, the duneinspired transit hub will be topped by a palm tree-lined landscape and go 30 meters underground to accommodate retail and two subway lines.

London Mayor Boris Johnson has approved plans for the Thomas Heatherwick-designed Garden Bridge. “The Garden Bridge will provide a fantastic new landmark for London whilst supporting regeneration and economic growth on both sides of the Thames,” said Johnson, who has been a vocal supporter since the project’s inception. ”It will create a stunning oasis of tranquility in the heart of our city and boost our plans to encourage walking in the city.”
Zaha Hadid Architects has been announced as the winner of an international competition for the new Sharjah headquarters of environmental and waste management company Bee’ah. Taking an aesthetic cue from the local desert environment, the project site appears as a series of sand dunes. Two larger central dunes form the basis of the core Headquarters building.
The concept for the Russian Pavilion at EXPO 2015 in Milan was developed by leading architectural bureau Speech, led by Sergei Choban. Taking in consideration Russia’s most successful world EXPO pavilions, of which the country has been producing since 1851, and the importance of “green technologies,” SPEECH has designed an expansive 4000-square-meter timber structure with a pronounced roofline that features a mirrored canopy extending 30-meters over the pavilion’s main entrance.
