Agence Beckmann-N’Thépé has just delivered an excellent complex of 160 housing units in Paris. The originality of their project consists in the esthetics of the shifted balconies and also another important element of this unusual project is its participation in the first European residential home offering facilities specifically designed for people living with “Locked-in Syndrome.”

One of the oldest and most popular building materials in the world is certainly wood. This situation is not surprising, as it is difficult to find a more aesthetically pleasing, durable, lightweight and providing natural insulation one. In recent years, its use is becoming more widespread, the industry is making significant progress in the use of wood not only in small but also for large-scale multi-storey projects. From wood can be also done building’s envelopes, which is most often possible to see made from horizontal or vertical boards but there are some projects as well in which it is used in a much more original way, clearly demonstrating nearly limitless possibilities of this material.

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) has collaborated with Alison Brooks Architects, Arup and the London Design Festival to present a cross-laminated tulipwood structure, ‘The Smile’ at the Chelsea College of Art Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground, where the it was exposed for two weeks.

Every year for the past twenty years, thousands of delegates from 195 countries meet for the United Nations conference on climate change in order to address questions concerning the future of the planet. The COP22 took place from the 7-18 of November in Marrakech. The Conference complex was built in Bab Ighli district on the 300 000 sq. m plot near the Medina quarter, and immediately received the informal name “COP22 Village.”

The Innovation Workshop SUBZERO PAVILION, designed by DoepelStrijkers, is a landmark building on the Floriade Almere 2022. It will be the first building on world exhibition. Terrain where students, businesses and knowledge institutions develop crossover innovations around the themes of nutrition, health and wellbeing. During the Floriade 2022, the Innovation Workshop will function as the Flevoland Pavilion. Here visitors can see and experience the innovations that have been developed in the period leading up to the Floriade.

On the world stage in the field of art Venice Biennale undoubtedly plays an important role. It was established in 1895 and at that time was an exhibition of artists from 16 countries. The 1930-s Biennale received the status of the world’s avant-garde center and within it festivals of theater, cinema, music were starting to take place. In 1975, to all mentioned above was added architecture. This year’s Architecture Biennale takes place for the 15th time, its curator is a Chilean architect and winner Pritzker Prize of the 2016, Alejandro Aravena.

Hangzhou is located 180 km from Shanghai on the east coast of China and is famous for its tea plantations and beauty of nature. Its population is about 1.75 million people, but every weekend a lot of people from all over China come here to visit wonderful local sights and gorgeous parks. To Hangzhou in China is even devoted a proverb: “Above there is a beautiful sky, but on the earth below, there is a beautiful Hangzhou.”

The city of Chongqing is located in the central part of China and is the largest in size among the four Chinese administrative units of this category. It is surrounded by three mountain chains from the south, north and east sides and is characterized by a hilly landscape. The climate of the place is distinguished by relatively high rainfall level, high humidity level and short mild winters and hot summers. The main place of interest in Chongqing is not a monument or a museum, but its stunningly beautiful scenery. People come here to enjoy the majestic mountains, caves, meadows, parks, gorges, canyons, colorful waterfalls and to improve their health in the hot springs.

The world’s largest zipper manufacturer YKK Group was founded in 1934. Its headquarters were first in Tokyo’s Nihonbashi Kakigara-cho, then nearby Nihonbashi Bakuro-cho, and later Asakusa Kaminarimon. In 1963, it moved to Kanda Izumi-cho, one of the country’s most prominent household goods and textiles wholesale districts since the olden days. Here in this district, the company continues to meet the challenges of manufacturing in the new YKK80 Building, which was completed upon the milestone that is its 80th anniversary as a place for people to gather, to connect, and to foster talent.
