Sou Fujimoto Architects, Manal Rachdi OXO Architectes and Nicolas Laisné Associés won the first Prize for the new Learning Centre of the Ecole Polytechnique, in Paris-Saclay. The competition purpose was to design a single building where study programs will be shared between six education and research institutions simultaneously.

In the northern France region of Nord-Pas-de- Calais a lot of attention paid to the development of culture. Despite the fact that there has not yet been fully overcome the consequences of the economic crisis, local authorities found the means to expand and rebuild the theater “Comedie de Bethune” (“La Comédie De Bethune”) at Bethune. Manuelle Gautrand Architecture Company began work on the new building of the theater twenty years ago, and at the end of the 1990s, was the first stage of construction.

After years of research the architect Giancarlo Zema, already famous for his water creations, has designed in exclusive for the British firm EcoFloLife, an ecofriendly floating housing unit the WaterNest 100. It is an enveloping of 100 sqm residential unit, 12 m in diameter and 4 m high, made entirely of recycled glued laminated timber and a recycled aluminium hull. Balconies are conveniently located on the sides and thanks to the large windows, permit enjoyment of fascinating views over the water.

Fentress Architects is finalizing their design for Miami Beach’s new futuristic Convention Center. Last May Fentress Architects was selected to redo the city’s convention center. The new center will provide upgraded facilities and amenities that should increase the convention center market for the city. The center is already home to world-renowned events such as Art Basel and the Boat Show. With this new 1.4 million square feet of design improvements, Miami Beach will have one of the most sought after convention centers in the United States.

BMW Welt (English – BMW World) is a multi-functional customer experience and exhibition facility of the BMW AG, located in Munich, Germany. In direct proximity to the BMW Headquarters and the Olympiapark, it is designed to present the current products of BMW , be a distribution center for BMW cars, and offer an event forum and a conference center. Designed by architects Coop Himmelb(l)au for BMW Group, the facility has been constructed from August 2003 through summer 2007 at a cost of US $200 million. Originally conceived to be open and ready for World Cup 2006, it eventually opened on October 17, 2007, and deliveries commenced on October 23, 2007.
